The Chicago Bears sent their mascot Staley to talk to the students about bullying. It was a wonderful presentation and the Tiny Tigers enjoyed it immensely. The Tiny Tigers participated in a presentation by Jesse White on school bus safety. Students enjoyed watching Tony cruise around the room and listen to all his safety advice.
Today, the Tiny Tigers learned about making good choices and saving money from the Junior Achievement Program. Gigi, a student at UIC, spent the morning helping the students color, draw and read stories in their own journals. They learned a lot and had fun learning about financial responsibility.
The Tiny Tigers had an awesome Halloween celebration on Friday. Ms. Vega and Ms. Lasky were dressed as Pete the Cat and Miss Georgina was a Dr. Seuss character. We had a parade around the building early in the morning then enjoyed a "mud and worm" snack made with chocolate pudding and gummy worms. We then played games and ate pizza for lunch. Everyone enjoyed dressing up and laughing all day.
The Tiny Tigers helped carve a pumpkin today. We were able to discuss the parts of the pumpkin and touch the flesh and seeds. The Tiny Tigers especially enjoyed watching Miss Gina and Ms. Lasky carve a ghost into the pumpkin and seeing the candle glowing inside.
We are learning about sorting by colors, shapes and sizes in Math. The Tiny Tigers sorted shapes by color today and counted using cardinality (assigning s number in order to an object). The best part of this activity is that they had so much fun they didn't realize how much they were learning.
The Tiny Tigers had an amazing time at their Fall Festival. They made scarecrows in the Craft room, frosted cookies in the Snack room, played games and enjoyed a Jump House. They each received a Halloween basket with plenty of treats and prizes. They also had a picnic with pizza and watched a Halloween movie. It was a very fun day for all!!!
The entire school enjoyed a performance by the Windy City Players today. It was a great show and we laughed throughout it. At the end of the day we all gathered in front of the building to present Father Sal with cards, gifts and we sang Happy Birthday to him. It was a great day! |
