The Tiny Tiger who is being honored as September's PAW student is Amaani!!!! Amaani is a fantastic student who is always willing to help her teachers and classmates. She always has a genuine smile for her friends and is often seen comforting friends who are sad. She is a sassy, spunky, and super student that we all enjoy spending our day with. Congratulations Amaani!
A huge part of the Latino culture is Music. The Tiny Tigers have been learning about different musical genres, performers and dances. Today students danced to Selena's Tejano Music, Romeo Santos' Bachata and Banda Machos. The Tiny Tigers showcased their ponchos and sombreros today in a parade around the building and Rectory. We visited the Main Office and Dr. Menden and Miss Majorowski were so excited to see us that they began singing Church songs with us. They accompanied us to the rectory to visit with Father Sal but unfortunately he was out for the day. The Tiny Tigers had a great time!!! The Tiny Tigers have begun celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. We are reading stories about famous Hispanic people, such as Frida Kahlo and Cesar Chavez. Today we painted ponchos that we will wear next week with our sombreros. We have been having fun learning about the different Spanish Speaking countries!!!
The Tiny Tigers have been learning about apples. We have read stories about the different types of apples. Today I brought in different types of apples (red, green and yellow) and the students tasted a slice of each. We then made a graph detailing which was our favorite. The green Granny Smith Apples won with 13 votes. It was a great Science and Math activity.
Dr. Menden led today's Pep Rally for the annual Walk-A-Thon. The band played music and we sang along to pump up the students in their fundraising efforts. Students need to raise at least $35 each. The Walk-A-Thon is Friday, October 2, 2015 at West Lawn Park.
Today students were able to dress down in patriotic colors to help support our school fundraiser. Students were asked to donate $1 and wear red, white or blue shirts in honor of Labor Day.
